Chantelle & Mitch | Caves Beach Wedding

Chantelle & Mitch’s Caves Beach Wedding

Chantelle & Mitch got married at the beautiful Caves Beach wedding venue, Caves Coastal Bar & Bungalows. With quite an uncertain lead up to the day for these too with the sketchy looking weather, they had up until 12 PM on the day to make the final call. It was decided that the ceremony would go ahead outside and it most certainly was the best choice by far!

The legendary Nathan of The Event Master who supplied the signing table, easel, peacock chairs and ceremony benches started setting up for the outdoor ceremony once the decision had been made, along with Hunter Valley Bouquets delivering the goods when it came to florals. Covering the top half of the arbour and providing other pieces of styling for both the ceremony and reception. Whilst the ceremony was being finished up, inside Louise of Hunter Events and the bridesmaids were piecing together the cake tower of Krispy Kreme donuts.

I started the prep with the Groom & Groomsmen, capturing a few shots of them doing their final touches while staying well hydrated with a few cold beverages. Bride prep was well underway when I arrived. The amazing Steff Matheson was looking after makeup for the ladies alongside Renee Walkhom who was looking after the hair. Julie Muir popped in to see the girls before we got ready to make our way down for the ceremony. The ceremony took place on the large deck at Caves Coastal, a perfect spot overlooking the coastline. The vibe was perfect, all the guests were laughing and engaging the entire time thanks to Julie’s witty humour and use of facts about the couple injected into sections of the ceremony.

Following the ceremony, we photographed a HUGE group photo down in the park at the back of Caves Coastal, then some friends & family photos, before heading off with the bridal party for the photos. Foreshore Kombi Hire got the bridal party from the ceremony to the photo locations with a few of the extras piling into my car. The first spot we hit up was Caves Beach. Iconic, timeless & always providing flawless light, this spot was an obvious choice. After we had shot on the rocks, we were making our way back towards the cars and I noticed a heap of seagulls just hanging out on the beach, I got the couple to sneak in behind them before sending my second shooter Andy running directly towards them to get them to fly towards the camera for a pretty unique photo.

Once back in the cars we made our way up to the top road that follows the coast for a few shots from above the beach, showing the picturesque cliffs. Finishing up with a few photos in the Kombi back at the venue before making our way into the reception. The reception was full of plenty of interesting, heartfelt speeches with a bit of banter targeted at the groom, and music/entertainment provided by Hunter Valley Wedding Entertainment. Halfway through the evening, Chantelle, Mitch & I snuck outside for some late night photos. I had seen a couple of spots earlier ion the day that I had envisioned creating some darker, flash-lit portraits during the evening. With the assistance of one of the bridesmaids, we threw confetti, lit up the couple and captured some pretty rad shots.

Back in the reception, the party continued into the night, with the ladies from Magnetic Shots turning up about midway through the evening to capture memories and print images on magnets for guests to collect and keep to pop on their fridge as a lasting memory. A very unique alternative to the standard favour.

Chantelle & Mitch’s wedding was absolutely amazing! Hands down on the best weddings of 2021 at one of our favourite coastal spots. A huge thanks to Hunter Events & all the vendors involved who helped make this day as amazing as it was for these two. I cannot wait to be back shooting plenty of more weddings at this beautiful venue.

PS. We recently teamed up with the team at Caves Coastal along with some of the Hunter’s best vendors to offer elopement & micro-wedding packages. Want to know more, shoot me an email! Let’s chat!
